About

BalkanWordle is a word-guessing game made for the languages of the Balkans. The idea is simple: the rules everyone knows from Wordle, with words, letters and alphabets that are truly ours.

Why BalkanWordle

Most word games are built for English and do not know what to do with letters like Č, Ć, Đ, Ž, Љ or Џ, let alone LJ, NJ and DŽ, which are written with two characters but count as one. BalkanWordle treats them the way every schoolchild learns them, so LJUBAV has five letters, not six.

Every language has its own keyboard, its own dictionary and its own Word of the day. You can play in Serbian (Cyrillic or Latin), Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin, Albanian, Macedonian, Bulgarian, Slovenian, Romanian and Greek.

How it works

Every day, each language gets a new five-letter Word of the day, the same for all players. If you want more, you can play without limits, with words from 4 to 11 letters and three difficulty levels.

Signed-in players save their results, collect points, track their win streak and compete on the leaderboard.

Who is behind it

BalkanWordle is an independent project, built out of a love for languages and word games. The game is free, and ads cover the server costs.

The dictionaries keep growing. If you notice a word that is missing or does not belong, let us know. Every report helps.
