How to play
The goal is simple: guess the hidden word in six tries or fewer. After each guess, the tiles change colour to show how close you are.
The basics
Type a word of the right length and submit it with the Enter key or the “Submit” button on the on-screen keyboard. Remove a wrong letter with Backspace or the “Delete” button.
Every guess must be a word from the dictionary of the selected language. If the word is not in the dictionary, the guess does not count and you can correct it.
The game ends when you find the word or use up all six guesses. If you do not find it, the answer is revealed at the end.
What the colours mean
Green: the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
Yellow: the letter is in the word, but in a different spot.
Grey: the letter is not in the word. If you type a letter more times than it appears in the answer, the extra copies are grey too. For example, if the answer has one A and you typed two, only one of them is coloured.
The same colours appear on the on-screen keyboard, so you can always see which letters you have already tried.
Word of the day vs Unlimited
The Word of the day is the same for everyone playing in the same language and always has five letters. You can play it once a day in each language. A new word arrives at midnight UTC, which is 1:00 Central European Time in winter and 2:00 in summer. The Word of the day is available to signed-in players, because the result is saved to your profile and your win streak.
In Unlimited mode you can play as much as you like. You choose the word length, from 4 to 11 letters, and the difficulty: Easy, Medium or Hard. You can also play Unlimited without an account, as a guest, but your results are not saved.
On Hard, you must use the hints you have found: a green letter has to stay in the same spot, and a yellow letter has to appear in every following guess.
While an Unlimited game is in progress, the language and settings are locked. You can change them as soon as the game ends.
Two-letter characters LJ, NJ and DŽ
In Serbian Latin, Croatian, Bosnian and Montenegrin, LJ, NJ and DŽ are single letters, just like Љ, Њ and Џ in Cyrillic. That is why each one takes up a single tile: LJUBAV (love) has five letters (LJ-U-B-A-V), and NJIVA (field) has four (NJ-I-V-A).
The on-screen keyboard has separate keys for these letters. On a physical keyboard, type the first letter, then the second one while holding Shift: L then Shift + J gives LJ, N then Shift + J gives NJ, and D then Shift + Ž gives DŽ.
Without Shift, the letters are entered separately, each in its own tile. This matters in words like INJEKCIJA (injection), where N and J are two separate letters.
The same input method works for the Albanian two-letter characters DH, GJ, LL, NJ, RR, SH, TH, XH and ZH.
Points and win streak
You earn points for every word you find: 1000 for a first-try guess, 125 fewer for each additional guess, and never less than 100. Signed-in players’ points add up and decide their place on the leaderboard.
Your win streak grows by one each day you solve the Word of the day. The Word of the day in any language counts, but only once per day.
If you skip a day, the streak starts over. If you fail to solve the Word of the day, it drops to zero. Your best streak stays on your profile.
